Quick Take
GoPro invented this category and the Hero 13 Black remains superb, with 5.3K video, excellent stabilization, and a huge accessory ecosystem. But the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro has pulled ahead where it counts: dramatically better battery life, superior low light from its larger sensor, and 47GB of built in storage as a safety net. At $319 versus $399.99, DJI wins this round.
What We Like

- GoPro: unmatched accessory and mount ecosystem
- DJI: up to 4 hours of battery life embarrasses GoPro
- DJI: larger 1/1.3 inch sensor wins in low light
- DJI: 47GB internal storage plus dual OLED touchscreens
What We Don’t Like

- GoPro: no internal storage; microSD only
- DJI: smaller accessory ecosystem than GoPro

Quality
How they compare: the Hero 13 Black is classic GoPro, rugged to 33 feet, with the HB lens system adding ND filters and macro options for creators. The Osmo Action 5 Pro matches the toughness at 20 meters waterproofing while adding dual OLED touchscreens that are genuinely useful front and back. GoPro’s build feels a touch more refined, DJI’s feels more thoughtfully designed for long shooting days. Both survive real abuse.
Value
Price comparison: $399.99 for the GoPro against $319 for the DJI standard combo, and the cheaper camera also runs longer and sees better in the dark. GoPro deals often narrow the gap, but feature for feature DJI gives you more for less. Unless you are invested in GoPro mounts, the value crown goes to DJI.
Who Should Buy It
Buy the DJI if battery life and low light matter to you, which is most action camera users. Buy the GoPro if you live in its accessory ecosystem or need 5.3K resolution.
Who Should Skip It
Skip the GoPro if you shoot long days away from chargers. Skip the DJI if you need a specific GoPro mount or the absolute highest resolution.
FINAL VERDICT
GoPro remains excellent, but the Osmo Action 5 Pro is the better action camera in 2026. Four hour battery, superior low light, internal storage backup, and an $80 lower price make this a clear decision. DJI takes the crown, and it is not particularly close.
