Quick Take

The OpenRun Pro 2 fixes the one real complaint about earlier Shokz models: thin sound. New DualPitch drivers pair bone conduction with an air conduction speaker for noticeably fuller audio, while the open ear design keeps you aware of traffic and your surroundings. At $179.95 it is still the sport headphone to beat.

What We Like

  • Open ear design keeps traffic, people, and surroundings audible on every run
  • Up to 12 hour battery with quick charging that adds 2.5 hours in 5 minutes
  • DualPitch sound is fuller and richer than the original OpenRun Pro
  • IP55 rating shrugs off sweat and rain without worry
  • Light 30.3 gram wraparound fit stays put through long workouts

What We Don’t Like

  • Pure audiophiles will still prefer sealed earbuds for detail and bass
  • Sound leaks at high volume, which can bother people nearby
  • Premium price for a headphone built for one specific job

Full Review

Quality

The frame is built around a full titanium core wrapped in silicone, with a nickel titanium alloy band that flexes without snapping. That is the classic Shokz formula, and it is why these survive daily training abuse that kills cheaper sport buds. USB C charging replaces the old proprietary cable, and the whole package feels like a mature product: two sizes, a two year warranty, and a companion app for EQ tweaks.

Value

At $179.95 the Pro 2 sits at the top of the open ear market, but nothing cheaper matches its combination of battery life, comfort, and sound. AirPods Pro cost more and seal your ears shut, which is exactly what road runners do not want. If you train outdoors regularly, the price pays for itself in safety and convenience.

Who Should Buy It

Buy these if you run, ride, or hike outdoors and want your music without giving up awareness of what is around you.

Who Should Skip It

Skip them if you mostly listen indoors and want the richest sound possible, where sealed noise cancelling earbuds are the better pick.

FINAL VERDICT

The OpenRun Pro 2 is the rare sequel that fixes the original’s main flaw while keeping everything that made it great. It is not the best sounding headphone at this price, but it is the best running headphone, and that is the only comparison that matters here.
