Quick Take
The Cloud 5 pairs On’s signature CloudTec cushioning with a featherlight build and a speed lacing system you can slip on and off in seconds. It is breathable, made with 44 percent recycled materials, and clean enough for the office. It is not a max cushion trainer, so long distance runners may want more underfoot.
Loves
- Featherlight at around 203 grams per shoe
- Speed lacing slips on and off in seconds
- Clean minimalist look works beyond workouts
- Breathable antimicrobial mesh keeps feet fresh

Not For

Quality
The engineered mesh upper feels premium with taped reinforcements and zero hot spots out of the box. The Zero Gravity foam midsole and Speedboard add snap without bulk. Stitching and glue lines are clean, and the shoe holds its shape well over months of daily wear.
Value
At $139.99 the Cloud 5 costs more than many daily trainers, but its versatility earns it back: one shoe covers commuting, travel, errands and light runs. The newer Cloud 6 costs more still, which makes the 5 the value pick in the lineup.
You’ll Love It If
Commuters, travelers and all day walkers who want one light, stylish, easy to wear shoe.
Skip It If
Marathon trainers, wide footed runners and anyone wanting plush max cushioning should look at On’s bigger models.
FINAL VERDICT
The Cloud 5 is not the fastest or softest shoe On makes, but it might be the most useful. For everyday miles and everyday life, few sneakers disappear on your foot this well.
