Quick Take
The reMarkable Paper Pro is the best digital notebook you can buy, full stop. The 11.8 inch color paperlike display, the 12ms writing response, and the two week battery make writing and annotating feel effortless. It costs $579 with the Marker and runs an intentionally limited OS with no real apps, so it is a luxury for dedicated note takers, not a general purpose tablet. If you live in notebooks, this is your device.

Quality
The Paper Pro is a beautifully made object: a 5.1mm thin slab of metal weighing 525 grams, with a textured glass cover lens that gives the Marker its famous paper friction. The 11.8 inch Canvas Color display renders 2,160 x 1,620 pixels at 229 PPI with a warm adjustable reading light for night use. Fit and finish are flawless, the magnetic Marker docks neatly, and the whole thing feels engineered rather than assembled. This is the best built writing tablet on the market.
Value
At $579 with the Marker, the Paper Pro is a serious investment, and the Marker Plus, folios, and Type Folio keyboard all cost extra. Compared to an iPad, it does a fraction of the things at a similar price. But no iPad matches its writing feel, its color e paper display, or its two week battery. For professionals who annotate documents and take notes all day, the productivity return justifies the premium. For everyone else, it is an expensive luxury.
You’ll Love It If
Professionals, students, and writers who annotate PDFs and take handwritten notes daily, and who value focus over apps, should buy it.
Skip It If
Anyone who wants a tablet for video, web browsing, or apps, or who balks at $579 for a single purpose device, should buy an iPad instead.
FINAL VERDICT
The reMarkable Paper Pro earns its place as the finest dedicated writing tablet available, with a gorgeous color display and the best stylus experience in the business. The price is high and the feature set is deliberately narrow. Buy it if your work lives in notebooks and documents; skip it if you want a do everything tablet.
