Quick Take
Rumpl took sleeping bag tech and turned it into the perfect hangout blanket. The Original Puffy is warm, packs tiny, shrugs off spills, and the Cape Clip lets you wear it hands free. At $99.95 it is a splurge for a blanket, but owners take theirs everywhere.
What We Like
- Packs down small in the included stuff sack
- Water resistant shell handles spills and dew
- Cape Clip lets you wear it hands free
- Machine washable and dries fast
What We Don’t Like
- Not as warm as its puffy looks suggest
- Crinkly shell is noisy when you move
- Pricey compared to a regular throw blanket

Quality
The shell and liner are 30 denier recycled ripstop polyester with a PFAS free DWR, filled with recycled synthetic insulation. Stitching is even, the stuff sack is sturdy, and the corner loops are genuinely useful. It feels like real outdoor gear, not a novelty.
Value
One hundred dollars is steep for a blanket, but this is really three products: camp blanket, travel blanket, and couch blanket. If it replaces a sleeping bag liner and lives in your car, the price makes sense.
Who Should Buy It
Buy it if you are always cold outdoors and want one blanket for everything.
Who Should Skip It
Skip it if you want maximum warmth per dollar or hate synthetic fabrics.
FINAL VERDICT
The Original Puffy is the rare outdoor product that gets used daily. Warm enough, tough enough, and fun enough to justify the price. A great gift and a better personal indulgence.
