Quality
The second generation AirTag keeps the same coin sized design and IP67 water and dust resistance, so every existing key ring and holder still fits. Inside, a second generation Ultra Wideband chip extends Precision Finding range by half, the Bluetooth radio reaches farther, and a redesigned speaker plays noticeably louder. The CR2032 coin cell pops out for easy replacement, and the enclosure uses recycled plastic and recycled rare earth magnets.
Value
At $29 the AirTag costs the same as in 2021 while adding meaningful upgrades, and the four pack drops the per tag price under $25. Tile and Chipolo rivals cost similar money but cannot touch the Find My network’s scale. For iPhone owners the value is unmatched; for everyone else it is a nonstarter.
